Touch Of Death

Antics version 5 has been released. i got an email mid week and downloaded the file from the link supplied. I answered the email for the key but haven’t received it yet. I haven’t installed or even looked at the software yet. To be truthful I haven’t even loaded up Antics for a while. As usual there never seems to be enough hours in the day. Antics is a very easy to use piece of software though – and I hope they’ve continued to keep it so in the new version – and I should start making time to use it. I do have an unfinished project lying on the hard drive.

So my holiday and the planned Antics time went awol. I spent most of the holiday driving and Antics didn’t even get loaded up. The day I had set aside dissolved into nothingness.

I’m on holiday next week and I’ve set aside one day to work on Touch of Death. With any luck this should give me enough time to get a good chunk of it done.

Now that I have the Pro version of Antics activated on my laptop I hope to get some more time working on this little short in the near future.

I’m undecided about whether I should be doing most of it in Antics or making some scenes then cutting and thrusting in Sony Vegas. Both are equally capable.

There’s very little dialogue in the film and most of it is silent, so it will involve a lot of concentration on the editing.

I got in a couple of hours on the Touch of Death during this week, enough to plan out some shots and add another character, do some trial runs of scenes – which i didn’t save as it would get too complicated.  The piece only has two characters anyway (well two and a half) and there is very little dialog.  I’m starting to approach the hurdles I saw earlier and they don’t look too insurmountable. I was hoping to use only the free Antics content for this project but it looks like I may have to dig into the Medical pack.

Great though Antics is for delivering out of the box I think I’ll be making some master shots and then bringing them into Vegas for sharper editing. I’m still a little undecided on the amount of cameras I want to use but I do know that I will be using weird angles as part of the storytelling.

I haven’t had time to do anything on Touch of Death this week. Nothing at all.  Hopefully with the bank holiday this week I’ll get some time to do something on this short.

Worked on Touch of Death a little over the weekend, not much done but the intro is now down to around 40 seconds.  I’ll be looking to amend the lighting before rendering it out.
